We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, innovative and inspirational teacher to join our Design and Technology Department to teach across the 11-18 mixed ability range. We are looking for candidates with flair, passion and commitment.

Student Support Officer (SSO)

Actual salary £21,324 (FTE salary £24,491)

37 hours per week termtime plus INSET (6 days)

(Hours: 8:00 am-4:00 pm Monday-Thursday; 8:00 am-3:30 pm Friday with 30-minute lunch break)

The Directors are seeking to appoint someone with experience of working with young people to work within the school’s pastoral team in providing a complementary service to the school in addressing the pastoral needs of students. The SSO will liaise with students, staff, parents and external agencies when needed to support students’ progress within the academy and their attitude to school life.

LEARNING SUPPORT PRACTITIONER

30 hours per week (Monday-Friday) termtime + INSET (6 days)

Level 5 scp 7-12 (£20,092 – £22,183)

Actual salary: £14,182

The Directors are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Practitioner. The successful candidate will be based in our SEND department and will join a team of 11 LSPs.

The main responsibilities of the role will include:

  • carry out individual programmes of learning, specifically to support the pupil concerned
  • assist in the implementation of any other programmes of support designed by other professionals such as advisory teachers, Educational Psychologists and speech therapists
  • contribute to the students integration programme as identified by the school
  • carry out specialist interventions to individuals or small groups

The main duties and tasks:

  • to support teachers within the classroom.
  • to support the general care, welfare and safety of the pupil
  • to assist in the preparation of teaching materials and equipment in support of the pupil concerned
  • to liaise professionally with our SENCo, Assistant SENCo and the teaching staff
  • to liaise with parents where necessary

The post is for 30 hours per week (Monday-Friday) during term-time plus INSET.

Assistant Site Supervisor / Caretaker

37 hours per week (Monday-Friday)  6.30am – 2.30pm

Level 4 SCP 4-7

Actual salary: £19,264 – £20,444

DUTIES:

  • Security – unlocking and securing premises at agreed times and maintaining the key(s) in their possession for emergencies.  Check and repair/report on security fencing and gates.
  • Minor repairs to include minor internal decoration (repair).
  • Checking that the heating and lighting systems are operating satisfactorily, and setting controls for their use.
  • Disposal of such waste materials arising from the use of the premises as are not covered by alternative arrangements.
  • Replacing such consumable on the premises in appropriate locations as are not covered by alternative arrangements, e.g. toilet rolls, soap, towels, etc.
  • Ensuring that premises are in a safe, tidy and satisfactory condition prior to use.  In the morning this will normally require attendance until a member of staff arrives.
  • Minor plant maintenance in accordance with agreed working practices and procedures.
  • General portage and collection activities.
  • Cleaning of designated areas not covered by alternative arrangements, e.g. outside areas, car parks, drains, boiler house, stores etc.
  • All equipment and protective clothing necessary for the job will be provided.
  • Security, including testing and operation of the intruder alarm system.  Responsible for custodian duties at all times and ensuring the availability of a nominated person for emergency call out on all designated sites.
  • The heating and lighting of all premises including stoking and boiler firing.
  • Health and safety matters included in standard documents covering working practices etc.
  • Oversight of delivery, use, recording and monitoring of all essential services, e.g. gas, oil, water, electricity consumption and having regard to the need for energy conservation and management.
  • Maintaining adequate levels of consumable, equipment etc.
  • Cleaning and maintaining satisfactory standards of appearances of designated areas not covered by alternative arrangements, e.g. outside areas, drains, boiler houses, stores etc.  cleaning of a non-routine nature, to include the removal of graffiti and spillage during occupation.
  • Minor repairs to include internal and external decoration, plumbing, joinery, plastering, glazing, electrical, drainage as directed by Head and/or Site Manager.
  • Assist and advise the Premises Manager or Site Manager on matters relating to energy, conservation and other building fabric-related matters.
  • Portage duties – receive goods delivered and distribute to the correct department or location, site.
  • Liaise with Police and Fire Officers in the event of damages or Community emergency.
  • Moving furniture and equipment.

Any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post as directed by the Headteacher / School Business Manager / Premises Manager.

Lunchtime Supervisor

5 hours per week

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision of Students

  • Ensure that school discipline policies are implemented.
  • Respond to duty delegation as required by the Deputy Headteacher.
  • Record inappropriate pupil behaviour and convey serious incidents to the Deputy Headteacher.
  • Supervision of children before, during and after the meal, including the supervising of children to deposit leftover food from plates into receptacles provided.
  • Supervision of children bringing sandwiches – to oversee that the debris left by children with packed lunches is removed/cleaned.
  • Wiping down of tables, sweeping and mopping of floor, clearing of items to be washed, keeping bins in a hygienic condition.
  • Summoning help, where necessary, in case of injury or illness reporting to first aider of the need for basic first aid for minor injuries.

Support to Students

  • Report any accidents to student reception; and completing written accident reports as required.
  • Assisting the children with their table manners and use of cutlery.
  • Maintain checks throughout the lunch break to ensure pupils are safe.

Resources

  • Responsibility for ensuring that the dining room equipment utilised is hygienically maintained.
  • Help to maintain a safe working environment for pupils and staff by continuously monitoring dining and general circulation areas for food/drink spillages and taking prompt and effective action to deal with any such hazards in accordance with local procedures.
