ASSISTANT SITE SUPERVISOR

Level 4 (scp 4-7) £18,933-£20,092 pro-rata

Actual salary £17,910 – £19,006 pa

35 hours per week

Hours: 6.30am – 2.00pm Monday-Friday

Here at St Thomas More Catholic Academy we pride ourselves in having high standards and a great community spirit.  As part of the site team you will be working after school has finished to assist the cleaners, staff and lettings with any requirements.  You will be an energetic person with a can do attitude who is looking to help improve our school.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Security – unlocking and securing premises at agreed times and maintaining the key(s) in their possession for emergencies.  Check and repair/report on security fencing and gates.
  • Minor repairs to include minor internal decoration (repair).
  • Checking that the heating and lighting systems are operating satisfactorily, and setting controls for their use.
  • Disposal of such waste materials arising from the use of the premises as are not covered by alternative arrangements.
  • Replacing such consumable on the premises in appropriate locations as are not covered by alternative arrangements, e.g. toilet rolls, soap, towels, etc.
  • Ensuring that premises are in a safe, tidy and satisfactory condition prior to use.  In the morning this will normally require attendance until a member of staff arrives.
  • Minor plant maintenance in accordance with agreed working practices and procedures.
  • General portage and collection activities.
  • Cleaning of designated areas not covered by alternative arrangements, e.g. outside areas, car parks, drains, boiler house, stores etc.
  • All equipment and protective clothing necessary for the job will be provided.
  • Security, including testing and operation of the intruder alarm system.
  • Responsible for custodian duties at all times and ensuring the availability of a nominated person for emergency call out on all designated sites.
  • The heating and lighting of all premises including stoking and boiler firing.
  • Health and safety matters included in standard documents covering working practices etc.
  • Oversight of delivery, use, recording and monitoring of all essential services, e.g. gas, oil, water, electricity consumption and having regard to the need for energy conservation and management.
  • Maintaining adequate levels of consumable, equipment etc.
  • Cleaning and maintaining satisfactory standards of appearances of designated areas not covered by alternative arrangements, e.g. outside areas, drains, boiler houses, stores etc.  cleaning of a non-routine nature, to include the removal of graffiti and spillage during occupation.
  • Minor repairs to include internal and external decoration, plumbing, joinery, plastering, glazing, electrical, drainage as directed by Head and/or Site Manager.
  • Portage duties – receive goods delivered and distribute to the correct department or location, site.
  • Liaise with Police and Fire Officers in the event of damages or Community emergency.
  • Moving furniture and equipment.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post as directed by the Headteacher / School Business Manager / Premises Manager

Business & Admin Apprentice: Level 1

Fixed Term 18 month Contract

Year 1: Apprentices will be paid £4.30 per hour.

Year 2: Apprentices will be paid the minimum wage for their age if they both aged 19 or over and have completed the first year of their apprenticeship

30 hours per week over 4 days plus 1 day unpaid at college / study time (term time only) plus 4 weeks in the school holidays

 

The Directors are looking to appoint a Business & Admin Apprentice to start in September 2021.

The successful applicant will:

  • Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues to deliver an excellent Administrative service and providing administrative support for the Office Manager and SLT
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents and colleagues in relation to work undertaken
  • Update manual and computerised records / management information systems.
  • Undertake reception duties; act as first point of contact in response to telephone and face-to-face enquiries, sign in visitors and other reception duties.
  • Be a first aider or be willing to undertake training
  • Have experience of administrative and Microsoft systems including MIS systems, Word and Excel.
  • Be friendly yet professional and have a respectful approach which demonstrates support and shows mutual respect
  • Positively promote the Catholic ethos within the Academy

You will be required to undertake Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship training over a 12 to 18-month period.
