GCSE Success at St Thomas More Catholic Academy
GCSE 2023 results where students have achieved above their expectations
We are delighted to share the success of the GCSE 2023 results where students have achieved above their expectations.
The recent Catholic School Inspection reported: “Students and staff demonstrate a deep sense of belonging to this welcoming community. They feel valued and cherished; they appreciate all the academy offers them.” That is exactly what was demonstrated this morning, as students queued to receive their results and celebrated each other’s success with their fellow students, their family and the staff. The tears of joy and screams of excitement across the room, echoed the hard work and perseverance that students have demonstrated to achieve their results.
With strong results across all subjects and students performing well in both English and Maths, the school were able to help and guide students through their next steps, whether that be at the schools Trinity Sixth Form or another chosen path. Independent career advisors met with students to discuss their future plans to ensure the best options were available for all students.
Stand out performances such as Owen Macaulley, Evelyn Shinu, Raman Hama Ali and Katelyn O’Reilly-Smith who all achieved grades 7-9 across Maths, English, Science and Religious Studies. Students who have made the most progress from Key Stage 2, by up to 3 grades higher than expected include, Owen Macaulley, Samuel O’Reilly-Smith, Abiha Fatima, Annomol Binoj, Emannuela Kwakye, Afreen Hasan, Victoria Wojciechowska and Isabella Harborow. We are delighted that a number of students are staying here at St Thomas More to join the Trinity Sixth Form.
Headteacher Mr Rayner said, ‘ I am delighted to share the success of the students. Through the hard work and commitment shown by the staff at St Thomas More, the students have engaged and showed perseverance to their academic achievement and have thrived across all subjects. I would like to thank the staff and also the parents of the students for supporting the students through their studies. I look forward to welcoming students back to the Trinity Sixth Form in September.’
St Thomas More is holding its annual prospective parents open evening on Thursday 21st September at 5.00pm, which will include a presentation from the Headteacher and a tour of the school. Senior leaders and staff will be available to answer questions from prospective parents.
