GCSE Results 2020
When starting in Year 11 in September 2019, no one could ever have imagined the journey our students were about to begin. Student arrived on the Wednesday 4th September, ready and prepared to start one of their biggest years in their education journey. The Year 11’s took it all in their stride and we started to see the students really push their limits on what they could achieve in their GCSEs. By the time the Year 11s sat their GCSE Mocks it was clear that the students were ready to excel and prove that all their studying was worth it. Roll forward to March 2020 and suddenly students were left with a sense of unease, uncertainty and a sense of concern, that all their hard work could be lost. The students proceeded to home learn with enthusiasm towards their subjects and with a keen direction to still sit their exams and show what they can achieve. As time passed during lockdown, it became clear that students would not be sitting their exams this year and the disappointment hit hard. The roller coaster journey continued as now it was not clear how they would receive their grades? how they could get on to the college course they had longed for? how would they get the grade that they deserved?
After what seems like the longest academic year for the year 11 students, today we arrive at results day. We were relieved to be able to welcome the students into the main hall to receive their results at their allocated time. Students results have really shown what hard work and dedication to your education can achieve. We are delighted that so many students have decided to stay here at the Trinity Sixth Form at St Thomas More Catholic Academy to continue their education and to stay part of our community.
To a year group who will always be remembered for their strength and resilience, we can’t wait to welcome so many of you back in September to the Sixth Form and wish all of you the brightest of futures. Remember to always ‘Aspire to be More’.
