Students in year 9 took part in an interactive NHS careers event at Stafford showground on 22nd November. They were able to meet with ambassadors from almost 100 NHS careers, universities and apprenticeship providers. There were practical demonstrations where we were even able to ‘deliver a baby’ and we found out about careers that we had never even heard of, such as medical simulation with students receiving fake wounds to take home with them!
September saw the launch of the A level Health and Social Care qualification at St Thomas More. Students heard from a trainee Paramedic with the West Midlands Ambulance Service about her job role and the skills that she needs to work effectively; a great case study to be used within their coursework.
